Khurda: Khurda police on Tuesday foiled a robbery bid and arrested five men from Nirakarpur..
The arrested were identified as Mohammad Asif (20), Jamshed Shah (19), Tukuna Behera (23), Muna Sahoo (20) and Mohammad Rijam (5).
Following information about a gang plotting a robbery near Ugratara temple at Nirakarpur, a police team conducted raids in the area and nabbed the five. Two pistols, one mobile phone and a sword were recovered from their possession, police sources said.
In another incident, a group of miscreants looted cash to the tune of Rs 3 lakh from a youth near Medical Chhak at Bhawanipatna in Kalahandi district.
According to reports, the loot took place when the victim was returning home after withdrawing money from a bank.
