Abu Dhabi: Rohit Sharma became the third batsman in IPL history to reach 5000 runs during Mumbai Indians’ match against Kings XI Punjab on Thursday evening.
The Mumbai Indians skipper followed in the footsteps of RCB captain Virat Kohli and Chennai Super Kings veteran Suresh Raina, who has pulled out of the 13th edition of the popular T20 league.
Raina was quick to congratulate Rohit after he reached the milestone. “Heartiest congratulations my brother on achieving another great milestone of completing 5k runs @ImRo45. Proud of you, more power to you,” Raina tweeted.
Rohit recently joined the ‘200 IPL sixes club’, becoming the fourth member after Chris Gayle, AB de Villiers and MS Dhoni.
