Mumbai: Following the exit of actor Sudhanshu Pandey from ‘Anupamaa’, the popular daily soap saw a dip in ratings after a generation leap.
To regain its TRPs, the makers of the show are revamping the serial’s storyline in a major way by casting actor Ronit Roy in place of Sudhanshu, according to a report by News 18.
According to sources, Ronit will be playing the role of Vanraj Shah in the sitcom.
Meanwhile, Rupali Ganguly will continue to play the titular role ‘Anupamaa’. She is currently seen rebuilding her life in Mumbai using her culinary and dancing skills.
Reports also suggest that actor Gaurav Khanna might be returning as Anuj Kapadia.
Ronit, on the other hand, confirmed that he won’t be a part of ‘Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi’ reboot.
“I’m happy that they decided to bring back Kyunki. Unfortunately, it didn’t work out for me. But it’s a show that’s been very close to my heart. I’m not against doing long-running shows or returning to TV. But there’s still a lot that needs to change in the television space, even after 25 years. Once those changes happen, I’d be open to coming back. Until then, I’m happy where I am,” Ronit was quoted as saying by ETimes.
‘Anupamaa’ became one of the most loved sitcoms since its premiere on July 13, 2020.
The return of the Smriti Irani starrer ‘Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi’ is expected to give it a tough competition.
