Sambalpur: The ropeway service near Hirakud dam at Burla in Sambalpur district reopened on Sunday after being closed for seven months due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Sambalpur Municipal Corporation commissioner Aniruddha Pradhan told mediapersons that the ropeway service managed by the Municipal Corporation has resumed with proper sanitization of the cabins. “We have asked the tourists to strictly adhere to COVID-19 guidelines and maintain social distancing norms and wear masks,” he added.
The ropeway, which travels from the Jawahar Garden to Gandhi Minar, has four cabins with a capacity of four persons in each of those. The price of ticket is Rs 50 per person. The ropeway service will be open from 10 am to 4.30 pm.
The Sambalpur Municipal Corporation had launched the ropeway service on November 28 last year. It had to be suspended in March this year after nationwide lockdown was announced.
