On Saturday, it was the turn of Rourkela Municipal Corporation to fete the four players from Sundargarh for their fine performance in the Tokyo Games.
Amit Rohidas and Birendra Lakra were part of the Indian men’s team which beat Germany to clinch bronze — the first medal in hockey after 41 years.
Deep Grace Ekka, who played a stellar role, and Namita Toppo were also honoured for the Indian women team’s maiden Olympic semifinal entry.
Rourkela MLA Sarada Prasad Nayak and senior district administration officials were present at the programme.
