Rourkela: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) sleuths have arrested an assistant postmaster, Biswaranjan Behera, posted at Rourkela head post office (HPO) in Odisha’s Sundargarh district.in a bribery case.
he 10-member team from Bhubaneswar caught the assistant postmaster red-handed. A postal agent identified as Bimal Kumar Muduli was also held in this connection.
According to a source, Behera had demanded Rs 2 lakh and accepted a bribe of Rs 50,000 from one Prabhasini Sutar through the agent Muduli to allow her withdraw Rs 8 lakh, accidental death claim of her husband, from her own postal account.
The assistant postmaster had initially demanded Rs 2.5 lakh but later settled for Rs 2 lakh.
Following the arrests, the CBI team led by DSP Dibakar Nanda and Inspector AK Nanda raided places linked to Behera and Muduli.
