Bhubaneswar: Rourkela and Jharsuguda saw over 6°C fall in the night temperature in the last 24 hours under the impact of northwesterly dry and cold winds blowing into Odisha.
Rourkela and Jharsuguda recorded 11.5°C, the lowest minimum temperature in the state, and 12.2°C respectively against 18°C and 18.3°C the previous day.
The twin cities of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack also saw a drop in the night temperature from 22.8°C and 20.6°C respectively on Thursday to 20°C and 18.8°C on Friday.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast further fall in the mercury levels by 2-4°C across the state during the next two days. The night temperature in Bhubaneswar and Cuttack is likely to hover around 16-17°C in the next seven days.
The weather agency has also warned about dense fog at one or two places in Nayagarh, Puri, Ganjam and Gajapati districts till Sunday morning. Shallow to moderate fog may occur during early morning hours during this period at a few places in Nayagarh, Puri, Ganjam, Gajapati and at one or two places in Rayagada and Koraput.
Shallow to moderate is likely to continue at one or two places in Jagatsinghpur, Cuttack, Khurda, Nayagarh, Gajapati, Ganjam, Koraput, Rayagada and Malkangiri districts during early hours on Monday, it added.
