Rourkela: In a huge relief, families can now meet COVID-19 patients in Rourkela hospitals through video-calling and even speak to the doctors treating them.
Sources said of the four dedicated COVID facilities in Rourkela, JP and Hi-Tech hospitals have already started the service. IGH and Shanti Memorial will launch it soon.
The administrations of the dedicated hospitals had received several requests to facilitate digital information sharing between the kin of patients and health staff, The New Indian Express reported.
Finally, the decision was taken to roll out the video-calling facility as per government instructions, the Rourkela ADM and Incident Commander for COVID-19, Aboli Sunil Naravane, informed.
How It Works
Those wishing to avail the video-calling service would have to book their slots in advance. The families will be allowed two minutes to watch their kin on the fixed date and timing. During this time, they can also talk to the doctors regarding the patient’s health condition.
