Rourkela: The Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP) ended 2020-21 financial year on a record breaking mode by surpassing the previous best figures on all major fronts despite the COVID-19 pandemic. It achieved the ABP targets for the first time since inception to create history.
The steel plant produced 35,73,000 tonne of hot metal in the financial year to achieve a growth of 5.7% over the previous fiscal. Similarly, it produced 32,07,284 tonne of saleable steel compared to 32,05,318 tonne last year. The Raw Materials Handling Plant despatched 10,56,5951 tonne of base mix (excluding sinter) to record the best fiscal performance since inception.
The plant registered best performance in March in production of hot metal (4,00,666 tonne). The Steel Melting Shops produced 3,60,606 tonne of crude steel improving the earlier best figures of 32,5,553 tonne achieved in 2019.
The state-of-the-art New Plate Mill rolled out 85700 tonne of plates to clock its best month performance. Similarly, RSP dispatched 130,000 tonne of HR Coils to register the best despatch in March.
The RSP ended the financial year with a string of excellent performances by individual departments in March 2021. It made 6 single-day records on March 27.
