Rourkela’s ‘Lifeline’ Caves In, Traffic Hit

Rourkela: Within 15 days after being repaired, a portion of Brahmani Bridge caved in on Thursday night. The damage on the six-decade-old bridge, which is the communication lifeline of the Steel City, stalled vehicular movement on Friday.

Assuring that there are no signs of danger, National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) Project Director Sourav Chourasia said repair work has started on war-footing.

He informed that cracks had earlier developed on the bridge’s surface and iron plates were placed on the damaged portions.
