Bhubaneswar: The row over the decision to merge the Unit-IX Govt Girls’ High School with nearby boys’ high school in Bhubaneswar is expected to be resolved soon.
A meeting of the guardians of students, school managing committee & teachers and senior officials of the School and Mass Education department was held in Bhubaneswar on Thursday in this regard, sources said.
The meeting was held after students at the premier school and their parents protested the proposed merger.
Stating that the meeting was fruitful, officials said a solution will be arrived at very soon keeping in view the interest of the students and their future.
All the girl students along with their parents observed sit-in protest against the merger, which will take place for relocation of Rama Devi Women’s Junior College to Unit-9 Govt Girls’ High School, by locking up the main gate of the school on Monday.
The Government has decided to merge Unit-9 Govt Girls’ High School with Unit-9 Govt Boys’ High School to facilitate the shifting of Rama Devi Women’s Junior College to the former school building for smooth functioning of classes.
