Row Over President Droupadi Murmu’s Picture On Advt Hoarding In Odisha

Baripada: A mustard oil company has landed in a soup for putting up a hoarding with a picture of President Droupadi Murmu with a congratulatory message at Karanjia town in Odisha’s Mayurbhanj district.

A lawyer, Jharana Prusty, has filed a complaint with the police, seeking action against the firm. “Hoardings with pictures of the President are objectionable and derogatory. Today an oil company is using her picture under the grab of a congratulatory message, other brands may also follow suit. Action should be taken against the company and its distributors,” she said.

She also questioned how the company got permission to use her picture in its advertisement and how the Karanjia NAC authorities allowed those to be put up within its limits.
