Bhubaneswar: In a good news for wildlife lovers, a Royal Bengal Tiger (RBT) has been spotted in a forest of Odisha’s Gajapati district recently.
According to sources, the presence of the tiger in Mahendragiri forest of the district was known from the pictures released by the Forest department. The pictures of the tiger were captured in camera traps installed in the forest on October 19.
The Forest department has also confirmed the presence of the tiger in Santoshpur area of Mahendragiri after examining the pugmarks. It had reportedly killed a cow in the forest in the night of October 19, sources added.
Though the Forest officials did not confirm the original habitat of the big cat, they suspected that it might have migrated to Mahendragiri from nearby forests in the region.
