Royal Enfield Classic 500 Pegasus Launched At Rs 2.49 Lakh

Bhubaneswar: Royal Enfield (RE) has launched a new iteration based on its popular Classic 500 to celebrate its iconic history. It has been named the RE Classic 500 Pegasus Edition. In India, the bike is priced at Rs 2.49 lakh on-road in Maharashtra.

The design has been inspired by the Flying Flea motorcycle that was popular with the military during World War II, and is dedicated to the paratroopers of the British army of that time.

The design is inspired by the Royal Enfield WD 125. This limited edition motorcycle will have a unique serial number stencilled on the fuel tank in the same manner as the regiment numbers were represented by the military during World War-II.

The fuel tank has Pegasus emblem and the Royal Enfield logo is the old one of that period. A unique ‘Service Brown’ paint scheme is available while the ‘Olive Drab Green’ is only available internationally due to restrictions here. Apart from that, there are brown handlebar grips, leather strapped brass buckles across the air filter box, black footpegs and chrome bits here and there to enhance the heritage appeal.

Only 1,000 copies of the RE Classic 500 Pegasus will be made. But only 250 units will be sold in India. 190 units will be sold in the UK, and the rest 560 units will be available in the US and Australia. It can be booked online, which will be started on July 10.

Like the Classic 500, the Royal Enfield Pegasus Edition uses the same 499 cc, air-cooled, single-cylinder engine that produces 27.2 bhp at 5250 rpm and 41.3 Nm of peak torque at 4000 rpm. It is paired to a 5-speed gearbox.

The 194 kg motorcycle has disc brakes as standard on both front and rear wheels.
