Chennai: Legendary motorcycle maker Royal Enfield is having a good roll. It sold 68,887 units in January 2021 in India, a 8 per cent growth over January 2020. Exports saw a good jump from 2,228 units to 4,515 units, a 103 per cent rise during the same period.
However, total sales for the year are 20 per cent lower than the previous year. The company sold 5.96 lakh units in April 2019 to January 2020 while it sold 4.76 lakh units between April 2020 and January 2021.
Royal Enfield has also started operations in Japan, having set up a store in Tokyo recently. The company will sell the Bullet 500, Classic 500, Himalayan and the 650 twins, the Interceptor 650 and the Continental GT 650 as well in Japan.
