Cuttack: A constable of Railway Protection Force (RPF) saved the life of a woman passenger from being crushed under the wheels of a train at Cuttack Railway Station.
According to available information, woman passenger Anita Ray (54) slipped and fell into a gap between the Bhadrak-Bhubaneswar passenger train and platform while attempting to board the train hurriedly.
Noticing this, on-duty RPF constable AK Sahoo swung into action and pulled out the woman by tilting her towards the platform. One of the train passengers also pulled the chain and brought the train to a halt.
“The train arrived at Platform-4 of the railway station at around 9:07 am. It departed from the station at around 9:12 am. Constable AK Sahoo found the woman trying to board the running train and slipped into the platform gap. However, the woman was rescued within a few seconds without any grievous injury owing to presence of mind of the constable,” said officer-in-charge of RPF’s Cuttack station Kiran Kumar.
