Titlagarh: A police officer was seriously injured when three unidentified miscreants attacked him on late Saturday night.
Sources said Sushil Pathak, IIC of RPF (Railway Protection Force) in Titlagarh Railway station, was on the way to his house at about 1 AM from his office when three miscreants wearing masks on their face attacked him with sticks and iron rods near Old Godown area.
As Pathak shouted for help, the miscreants fled the area as some locals rushed to the spot. The IIC, who sustained severe injuries on his head, was rushed to the Titlagarh Sub-Divisional Hospital for treatment.
Sources said some people of the locality were having illegal business at the railway station. However, as Pathak, after his posting at the RPF police station stopped their business, the people doing illegal business had staged a demonstration and demanded that they should be allowed to do their business. But they were not allowed. This could be the reason of the attack on the IIC, local police said.
Meanwhile, police has begun an investigation into the incident while efforts are on to nab the culprits.
