RPF Launches Drive To Detain Passengers Boarding Running Train In Cuttack Rly Station

Cuttack: In order to prevent the passengers from putting their lives at risk by getting into running train, the Railway Protection Force (RPF) has launched a preventive drive in Odisha’s Cuttack railway station from Sunday.

According to RPF sources, four of its personnel will be deployed in the station round-the-clock to track the passengers who would try to board the running train. Such passengers would be detained in the RPF outpost for one day as a penalty.

The RPF launched the drive after 5 such incidents were reported from the station this year. In the latest case on Saturday, a passenger, identified as Arup Kundu, tried to board AB-1 coach of Puri-Patna Express from platform number 1 at 4.55 pm.

As he slipped from the steps of the train, Kundu was trapped in the gap between the running train and the platform. Luckily, two RPF personnel on the platform rushed to the spot and dragged him out of the place. Kundu sustained minor injuries in the incident, but his life was saved.

Following this, the RPF decided at a meeting on Saturday to take action against the passengers who put their lives at risk by boarding running trains.
