Jaipur: Rajasthan Royals pulled off a surprise win and remained in contention for play-offs after they defeated Kings XI Punjab in Jaipur on Wednesday. The win came despite an unbeaten knock of 95 runs by KL Rahul.
In the must-win game, Jos Buttlet’s 82 off 58 balls helped Rajasthan put 158 runs on the board. They struggled to recover after losing three wickets in the first four overs. At one stage, they were 66 for the loss of five wickets.
In reply, Punjab batted well with Rahul hitting 95 off just 70 balls. In the last over, Punjab needed 32 runs and Rahul still slammed a six and two fours. However, Punjab were restricted to 143 for the loss of seven wickets at the end.
While Rajasthan have moved to the sixth place, after remaining at the bottom of the table, KXIP maintain their third position.
