Chennai: ‘Naatu Naatu’, the dance track from ‘RRR’ which has attained cult status, will be performed live at the Oscars 2023.
The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences confirmed in a tweet that singers Rahul Sipligunj and Kaala Bhairava will make their on-stage Oscars debut with the iconic song performed on screen by NTR Jr and Ram Charan.
The track, composed by MM Keeravaani, has been nominated in the Best Original Soor ng category this year’s Oscars.
The 95th Academy Awards will be held at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles on the night of March 12 (from 5.30 am IST March 13).
Keeravani told Variety that the live performance will include singers from India and dancers from Los Angeles, all working in unison.
He, however, plans to scale down the theatrical dance piece for Oscars stage.
“We are doing a different version for the Oscar performance, of the original song. We are modifying the version and making it a little small,” adding that ‘RRR’ stars will be joining in the dance.
Naatu Naatu, which has already won several international awards including the Golden Globe in Best Original Song category Best Song at in the Critics Choice Awards, is set to re-release in the US, across 200 theatres.
