Bhubaneswar: The Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) has intensified checks on COVID-19 guidelines violations in the city.
In the last seven days, the BMC has collected a total fine of Rs 1,10,000 from people and shops for not wearing masks, crowding near shops and not maintaining social distancing.
“Following the awareness, the authority is also continuing the enforcement for safeguarding citizens,” a BMC official said.
The state reported the highest single-day spike of 755 cases on Thursday, taking the tally to 11,956.
Bhubaneswar has so far reported 557 COVID-19 cases and the virus has claimed seven lives in the city.
