New Delhi: The Uttarakhand branch of the Indian Medical Association (IMA) has slapped a defamation notice of Rs 1,000 crore on yoga guru Ramdev over his recent controversial remarks against allopathic medicine for the treatment of COVID-19 cases.
In its defamation notice, IMA Uttarakhand has stated that if Ramdev doesn’t post a video countering his statements on allopathic medicine, or tender a written apology within the next 15 days, then a sum of Rs 1000 crore will be demanded from him, India Today reported.
Earlier, it had also written to Uttarakhand Chief Minister Tirath Singh Rawat against Ramdev’s statements against allopathic medical profession “hoping for a prompt and strict action” against him.
Ramdev’s alleged comments on allopathy in a video stirred a controversy with doctors bodies – IMA, Resident Doctors Associations of AIIMS and Safdarjung hospitals seeking action against the yoga guru.
On Sunday, Union Health Minister Harsh Vardhan asked Ramdev to withdraw the remark, saying it disrespects ‘corona warriors’ and can break the morale of healthcare workers.
Ramdev later replied to the health minister saying he is taking back his words even as doctors across the country continue to slam him over the remarks.
Among all this, Ramdev’s aide Acharya Balkrishna has come up with a conspiracy theory. Balkrishna in his Tweet said, “As part of the conspiracy to convert the entire country into #Christianity, #Yoga and #Ayurveda are being maligned by targeting @yogrishiramdev jee. Countrymen, wake up now from the deep slumber otherwise the generations to come will not forgive you.”
