Rs 14 Lakh Looted From Cooperative Bank In Odisha’s Cuttack; Probe Underway

Cuttack: In a daring act, miscreants allegedly looted over Rs 14 lakh cash after breaking open the treasury box of Banki branch of Central Cooperative Bank in Odisha’s Cuttack district.

Ac per preliminary reports, the loot was suspected to have been committed by some professional robbers, who have also taken away hard disks and computers from the ban. They have also broken the CCTV camera in an apparent bid to evade identification.

The loot reportedly occurred late on Thursday night. The incident came to light after the staff of the bank opened the branch on Friday morning. The miscreants have decamped with the money after breaking the treasury box. While the exact amount of cash looted is being ascertained, sources said the robbers have taken away around Rs 14 lakh.

On being informed, Cuttack Superintendent of Police along with other senior officials visited the bank and launched an investigation. Efforts are on to identify the robbers and nab them.
