New Delhi: Nora Fatehi has been given a clean chit by Delhi Police in the Rs 200-crore scam, the actress’ team said in a statement on Friday.
After Nora was questioned by Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of Delhi Police on Thursday, Delhi Police apparently stated that she was not involved in the extortion case involving jailed conman Sukesh Chandrashekhar and wasn’t aware of the crime syndicate.
According to Nora’s team, the EOW spokesperson said, “Nora did not know about the conman or the crime syndicate. As soon as she realized something was wrong, she raised it with us. Based on Nora’s actions, we will forward the investigation. The investigation is still open and we will come to a conclusion after considering all the statements, circumstances and evidence.”
Nora said during her six-hour grilling that she was invited to the studio of Sukesh’s wife in Chennai, and told not to take a fee as she would be gifted a car.
She got suspicious when Sukesh called her repeatedly, and blocked him. She claimed she had been strictly professional in her dealings with Sukesh, whom she never met.
Nora, who was questioned by EOW earlier this month also, shared all evidence she had with police, including communication and screenshots of conversations.
Nora’s brother-in-law Bobby has reportedly admitted to receiving a BMW worth Rs 65 lakh from Sukesh as gift.
Another Bollywood actress Jacqueline Fernandez was quizzed by EOW for nearly eight hours on Thursday. She has been named in a chargesheet by Enforcement Directorate.
