Koraput: The GST authorities have imposed a penalty of Rs 22.42 lakh on a jewellery shop in the district for evading the tax.
Acting on reliable information, the enforcement squad of GST had conducted a raid on the Mayur Jewellery shop on the main road of Jeypore town of the district on October 4.
During the raid, the squad detected 690.04 gram of gold and 11,329 gram of silver ornaments in the stock of the shop. The shop-owner failed to produce the document on payment of GST on the ornaments.
Following investigation, the GST authorities imposed the penalty on the jewellery shop.
