Rs 5 lakh looted from panchayat official in Angul

Angul: Three motorcycle-borne persons allegedly looted cash to the tune of Rs 5 lakh from a panchayat official at Kaleipada village in Angul district on Saturday.

The incident took place when Prashant Sahu was on his way to Khinda panchayat from Angul with the cash meant for distribution of pension. The miscreants detained Sahu and decamped with the money at gunpoint.

A case in this regard has been lodged at Angul police station. Police said patrolling has been intensified in the area to nab the culprits.
