Berhampur: The Berhampur Municipal Corporation (BeMC) has announced to honour the wards with clean and sanitation awards.
BeMC Commissioner Siddheswar Baliram Bondar made the announcement after launching ‘Mo Ward, Swachha Ward’ on Monday. The ward which will bag first position in terms of cleanliness and sanitation will be awarded Rs 50 lakh, followed by Rs 30 lakh for second and Rs 20 lakh for third ranks.
Apart from it, the BeMC has decided to launch awareness programme in different colonies (sahis) under the civic body from December 1 to January 7. “We would allot an extra amount of Rs 21 lakh for the particular colony which stands first in this concept,” said the commissioner.
He further said a fine of Rs 1,000 to 5,000 would be imposed up on persons having no dustbin and Rs 10,000 on those dumping garbage on private land.
