Bhubaneswar: Recognising police personnel as frontline corona workers, the Odisha government has decided to provide an ex-gratia of Rs 50 lakh to the next of the kin of those who die while on COVID-19 duty.
Odisha DGP Abhaya in a tweet expressed his gratitude to Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik for including them in this government scheme.
On April 21, the government had announced ex-gratia assistance of Rs 50 lakh and state funeral for healthcare personnel, who lose their lives in the fight against corona.
Earlier in the day, a compassionate assistance of Rs 15 lakh was announced for any working journalist, who dies after contracting the virus while on duty.
