Balasore: Unidentified miscreants reportedly broke into the famous Panchalingeswar temple in Balasore district a little after midnight on Thursday and decamped with cash amounting to Rs 50, 000 from the donation box.
The matter came to the light this morning after the priests found the locks of the donation box broken. They immediately alerted police regarding the same.
A police team along with a scientific team and dog squad reached the spot and started investigation.
“This is not the first loot incident in the temple. Similar heists have been reported in the past and several items, including ornaments of the deities stolen. We demand a police outpost in the locality to stop such crimes,” a local resident said.
