Bhubaneswar: In a major haul, the Commisionerate Police here on Wednesday seized a 550-gram brown sugar and cash from a house at Kesura under Saheed Nagar police limits.
Briefing the media, Commissioner of Police (CP) Soumendra Priyadarshi said c
ontraband worth Rs 55 lakh and Rs 34.80 lakh in cash were seized from the house and arrested a woman and another person.
A Maruti Alto car and two motorcycles have also been seized during the raid.
Police are on the lookout for the woman’s husband, who made to give them a slip.
The CP said that preliminary investigation has revealed that the arrested duo and the absconding man are linked to a racket in Balasore’s Jaleswar.
Stating that it is for the first time that the Odisha capital has seen such a huge seizure, he said that the police will intensify investigation and raids under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
