Police Commissioner Soumendra Priyadarshi briefing media on seizure of brown sugar
Bhubaneswar: In a major haul, the Commisionerate Police here on Wednesday seized a 550-gram brown sugar and cash from a house at Kesura under Saheed Nagar police limits.
Briefing the media, Commissioner of Police (CP) Soumendra Priyadarshi said contraband worth Rs 55 lakh and Rs 34.80 lakh in cash were seized from the house and arrested a woman and another person.
A Maruti Alto car and two motorcycles have also been seized during the raid.
Police are on the lookout for the woman’s husband, who made to give them a slip.
The CP said that preliminary investigation has revealed that the arrested duo and the absconding man are linked to a racket in Balasore’s Jaleswar.
Stating that it is for the first time that the Odisha capital has seen such a huge seizure, he said that the police will intensify investigation and raids under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
