Bhubaneswar: Chief minister Naveen Patnaik on Sunday announced cash incentive of Rs 5 lakh each to sprinters Dutee Chand and Jauna Murmu ahead of their London tour to participate in the World Athletics Championships beginning August 4.
The chief minister also congratulated the athletes and wished them success.
Dutee and Jauna are two athletes from Odisha to have made it to the 25-member Indian contingent. Jauna would be taking part in the 400 metre women and 4X400 relay events while Dutee got a wild card entry for women’s 100m despite narrowly missing the qualification mark of 11.26s since the necessary number of 56 athletes for the event could not be fulfilled.
