Bhubaneswar: The authorities of Biju Patnaik International Airport in Odisha capital on Tuesday seized Rs 75 lakh trolley bags of two passengers.
According to sources, the cash was confiscated during ‘baggage scanning’. One of the passengers had arrived from Delhi and the other from Chennai. While Rs 50 lakh was found in one of the trolley bags, the other had the remaining Rs 25 lakh.
The cash reportedly belongs to a businessman of the city.
The seizure of such huge amount of cash ahead of the twin polls in Odisha has raised suspicion. The Income Tax department has begun a probe to ascertain the sources of the money. The passengers have also been detained for questioning, the sources added.
