Rourkela: The cycling team of Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP) emerged champion in the 4th Golden Triangle Cycling Championship 2022 in Bhubaneswar.
In the competition, organised by Bhubaneswar Cycling and Adventure Club, the cyclists had to cover 151 km from Bhubaneswar to Puri and Konark and back. The RSP players won gold and silver medal in the competition.
The steel plant’s Rohit Hembram clocked 4:39:34 to win the gold medal, a trophy and a cash award of Rs 1 lakh, while Sakshat Patra clocked 4:41:16 to bag the silver medal, a trophy and cash award of Rs 50,000.
More than 75 professional cyclists from Bhubaneswar, Cuttack, Rourkela, Jamshedpur, Kolkata and Bengaluru participated in the event.
Vineel Krishna, secretary, Sports and Youth Affairs, presented the trophies to the winners at a function. Sanjeeb Panda, ADG Crime Branch & President of BCAC; Anant Pattnaik, Circle head HDFC Bank and Minati Mohapatra, Arjun Awardee for Cycling were present on the occasion.
