Bhubaneswar: The Odisha State Commission For Protection Of Child Rights (OSCPCR) has served a show-cause notice onRegional Director of DAV, Odisha Zone-1, KC Satpathy over the alleged violation of the Right to Education (RTE) Act (this Act may be called the Right of Children to Free and Compulsory Education).
The Commission has asked Satpathy to furnish a reply by December 20.
The Commission issued the notice on the basis of a petition filed by the Odisha Parent’s Federation (OPF).
The Federation had alleged that general category students were enrolled under Economically Weaker Sections (EWS) and Disadvantaged Group (DG) quota in DAV schools across Odisha during 2018-19- and 2019-20 academic sessions.
It may be recalled that the School and Mass Education Minister Samir Ranjan Dash, in response to the complaints by the OPF, had told the media on October 3 this year that the state government will introduce online admissions for EWS category from the next session so that no private school can misuse the 25% quota facility.
