Bhubaneswar: The Rugby World Cup Trophy (The Webb Ellis Cup) arrived here on Friday.
Altogether 27,000 students of KISS welcomed the cup before joining the rugby training session being imparted by Rugby India coaches and player, including Munna Murmu, Rajkishore Murmu and women players Sumitra Nayak, Hupi Majhi and Lija Sardar of KISS, according to KISS press release.
Deputy Speaker, Odisha Legislative Assembly, Sananda Marandi, Bhubaneswar (North) MLA Priyadarshi Mishra, KIIT & KISS Secretary R N Dash, KISS CEO Dr P K Routray and Director, sports KIIT Deemed to be University Dr. Gaganendu Dash were also present.
The trophy is visiting 18 countries.
The Rugby World Cup takes place every four year and it will be hosted by Japan, the first tournament to be played in Asia.
KISS has been promoting and popularising Rugby in Odisha. It has produced many national and international Rugby players, who have brought laurels to Odisha and India, the release added.
