Bhubaneswar: A run for women health awareness, Pinkathon, was organised here in the city on Sunday.
“The objective is to push for fitness as a lifestyle so that we have healthier women in all households,” said Pinkathon Ambassador Mousumee Mishra.
“It was a 5-km run and we had more than 100 women participants and other volunteers for this event,” she added.
Pinkathon Ambassador Mousumee Mishra flagged off the run along with Olympian Anuradha Biswal and National Shot Putter Ansika.
Notably, Pinkathon is India’s biggest women’s run founded by Milind Soman and Reema Sanghavi of United Sister Foundation.
It was introduced with an objective to spread awareness about women’s health-related issues like breast cancer.
“Through the Pinkathon we encourage women to adopt health and fitness in their daily life by means of running,” said Mousumee.
The Pinkathon began at 6 am on Sunday and saw over 12,000 women across five countries and 100 cities in India participating in it.
The route was from KIIT Square up to Silicon Institute of Technology and back to KIIT Square. The finishers were provided with medals and e-certificate.
