Rural Piped Water Supply Project For Five Odisha Districts In Two Years

Bhubaneswar: The State Cabinet on Monday approved a proposal for the implementation of five individual rural piped water supply projects in five districts of Odisha to provide safe drinking water.

Of the five districts, the project will be implemented in the mining-affected areas of Jajpur, Keonjhar and Mayurbhanj districts from Odisha Mineral Bearing Areas Development Corporation (OMBADC) funding.

Under the project, a total of 3,20,584 people of 384 villages under 63 gram panchayats, three blocks of  these districts will be provided with safe drinking water. It will benefit 1,01,068  people of 71 villages under 20 gram panchayats of Sukinda Block of Jajpur district, 1,26,633 people of 200 villages under 29 gram panchayats of Hatadihi block of Keonjhar district and 92,883 people of 113 villages under 14 gram panchayats of  Kusumi block of Mayurbhanj district.

The work of the  project will be taken up by NCC Ltd, Hyderabad and will be completed within two years at an estimated cost of Rs 641,57,00,000.

Similarly, two individual rural piped water supply projects will be implemented in Deogarh district out of National Rural Drinking Water Programme (NRDWP) funding. The project will benefit 1,91,893 people of 432 villages of 38 gram panchayats under  Barkote and Riamal blocks. The project work to be taken up by Voltas Ltd at an estimated cost of Rs 333,88,00,000 will be completed in two years.

This apart, two projects will be implemented in Dhenkanal district with funding from Buxi Jagabandhu Assured Water Supply to Habitations (BASUDHA) funding. The project will benefit 3,17,914 people of 317 villages of 63 gram panchayats under Odapada and Hindol blocks. The project work to be taken up by the Voltas Ltd at an estimated cost of Rs Rs 349,38,00,000 will be completed in two years.

Besides, the Cabinet also cleared the following proposals:

–Approval of the scheme “Augmentation of Basic Amenities and Development of Heritage and Architecture” (ABADHA) in Puri.

— Transfer of the Aviation branch from General Administration and Public Grievance Department to the Transport and Commerce Department by way of amendment of the Odisha Government Rules of Business.

— Proposal for bringing 19 educational complexes meant for the Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Groups (PVTGs) under the administrative control of the ST & SC Development Department at par with existing educational establishments.

—Abolition of application fee, user fee and District e-Governance Society (DeGS) charges from the citizens for the issue of resident, income, Income and Asset (for economically weaker sections), legal  heir, guardianship, ST, SC, Socially and Economically Backward Class (SEBC) and Other Backward Class (OBC) certificates.

—Amendment of the Odisha Ministerial Services (Method of Recruitment and Conditions of Service of Junior Assistants, Senior Assistants, Section Officers in the district offices and offices subordinate thereto) Rules, 2019.

—Formulation of a new recruitment rule for the Odisha Labour Service Cadre, namely the Odisha Labour Service (Method of Recruitment & Conditions of Service) Rules, 2019.

—Formation of the Odisha Ministerial Services (Methods of Recruitment and Conditions of Service of posts in the Chief Engineer establishments under the  Department of  Water Resources)  Rules, 2019, and formation of the Odisha Ministerial Services (Methods of Recruitment and Conditions of Service in the district offices under the Department of Water Resources) Rules, 2019.
