Phulbani: Hundreds of locals and several tourists on Saturday rushed to Latapanga village in Daringbadi area of Odisha’s Kandhamal district to collect diesel from a crevice.
The incident came to light after one Dubasa of Latapanga village caught a whiff of diesel near a hillside, on the outskirts of Latapanga village, while on his way to Porapanga village.
“I went to the spot and found diesel under the crevice. Suspecting leakage from some underground pipe, I went to a nearby filling station and informed the staff there about it. But they allayed any leakage. I also took them to the spot. I have already collected about 20 litres of diesel,” he added.
As the news began to spread in the area, hundreds of people from nearby villages and several tourists from Daringbadi rushed to the spot to collect diesel from the crevice.
