Kyiv: The director general of Ukraine’s Russian-occupied Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant is being detained by a Russian patrol, Reuters reported.
Energoatom, the state agency in charge of the nuclear plant, said in a statement on Saturday that Ihor Murashov was detained on way from Europe’s largest nuclear plant to the town of Enerhodar around 4 pm (local time) on Friday.
“He was taken out of the car, and with his eyes blindfolded he was driven in an unknown direction,” the statement said.
Russian forces, which invaded Ukraine on February 24 on President Vladimir Putin’s order, had earlier destroyed a laboratory at the Chernobyl nuclear power plant in northern Ukraine.
