Kyiv: Russia continued intense shelling and bombardment of Ukrainian cities for the 17th day, surrounding the battered city of Mariupol on Saturday.
Hundreds of civilians have been killed, and even children have been under attack.
At least 79 children have been killed so far and around 100 wounded in the war, The Kyiv Independent reported citing Prosecutor General’s Office (PGO).
The PGO said in a statement that most of the victims were in Kyiv, Kharkiv, Donetsk, Sumy, Kherson, and Zhytomyr regions.
The prosecutor’s office also stated that 280 educational institutions have been hit in the war, of which nine have been completely destroyed.
A children’s hospital was also hit by a missile three days ago, killing three people, including a child, and leaving many injured.
On Saturday, Ukraine said that a mosque housing 80 civilians was shelled in Mariupol, reported AFP.
