Bhubaneswar: South Africa Hockey Team’s goalkeeper Rassie Pieterse, on Wednesday, took to Instagram and uploaded some pictures and thanked Odisha for the hospitality.
He wrote,” Thank you Odisha. It’s been a heck of a journey… but an unforgettable one! Huge thanks to everyone that has supported us, my team mates, support staff, friends, the SA hockey community, sponsors and mostly my family.”

South Africa finished at the bottom of Pool C and could not make it to the quarterfinals or the crossover matches. However, they had a strong team and played extremely well. Rassie and other players went around the city and had uploaded several other adorable pictures.

Ranked world number 15, the players of South African men’s hockey had to pay from their own pockets to just be part of the 18-day mega event in Bhubaneswar. The players have had to face many struggles in order to pursue the sport that isn’t very popular back at home.
Besides, International Hockey Federation also shared a picture of the teams selected for the quarter finals starting today.
