Home Minister Amit Shah proposes, Prime Minister Narendra Modi disposes? In an apparent bid to douse the recent controversy over a suggestion to impose Hindi as a common national language, the PM responded to ‘Howdy Modi’ in 8 Indian languages, including Odia.
“Sabu bhala achi” (“Everything is fine”), the PM said addressing 50,000 Indian Americans at the NRG Stadium in Houstan, US.
The Prime Minister started with, “Howdy Modi? The answer is everything is fine in India.”
He then went on to say the same in other Indian languages: “Sab changey si, majama che, ellam saukiyam, sob khub bhalo and sabu bhala achi” among others.
PM Modi shared the dais with US President Donald Trump and spoke about the diversity in India, from cultures to food to languages. President Trump referred to the crowd as “Incredible” in a tweet. He even tweeted saying “The USA loves India”.
“Our vibrant democracy is our foundation, and our inspiration,” PM Modi added.
He also took a jibe at Pakistan without directly naming it. “People who can barely manage their country object to what has happened here (Kashmir),” he said.
“Whether it is terrorist attacks on 9/11 or 26/11, where were the planners of the attacks?”
