Prayagraj: A Stanfort University graduate has hit upon a unique idea of promoting sanitation and cleanliness at the onging Kumbh Mela here.
The US national who has taken the spiritual route renouncing her hallowed degree back home, has come up with ‘toilet cafeteria’ at the religious congregation.
It is a unique cafe with commode style chairs, encouraging devotees to use toilets and avoid open defecation. The cafeteria has become a major draw at the gathering with countless pilgrims checking in to admire the concept and the sadhvis commitment to promote cleanliness.
“I came to India in 1996 for the first time after completing my graduation. When I visited Rishikesh, Hindu religion and traditions influenced me. Since then I decided to work as a ‘sanyasi,” Sadhvi Bhagwati Saraswati told India Today TV in an interaction.
We are spreading this awareness among people through the toilet cafe. Every day in the morning we go with empty bags to collect garbage but it’s quite commendable that we struggle to find trash because of the adequate security measures and lakhs of toilets constructed by the state government” she said.
