Bhubaneswar: As part of its “Safe City Drive”, the Bhubaneswar Urban Police District (UPD) inspected security system in the banks and jewellery shops in Odisha capital on Thursday.
The personnel of the UPD went to the banks and jewellery shops under different police stations and carried out a thorough checking of the CCTV cameras installed there. They instructed the institutions in sensitive areas to instal more CCTV cameras.
They also advised the bank authorities and jewellery shop owners to set up alarm/siren system in case of any accident or crime and deploy armed security personnel. Besides, they were told to have boards mentioning the police control room number or mobile number on the walls to help the people contact the police.
The UPD advised the jewellery showrooms to keep minimum jewellery on display and store the maximum stock inside the lockers. They also told them to monitor the unauthorised entry of people.
It may be noted that armed men looted ornaments worth over Rs 12 crore from a jewellery showroom in Jajpur a few days back.
