Sahitya Akademi Awards: Names Of Jury Members To Also Be Disclosed

Bhubaneswar: The Sahitya Akademi has decided that along with the awardees, it will also publish the names of the jury members and the books shortlisted in the final stage.

In a letter to city-based poet Prabir Kumar Das, who is also an advocate, Secretary of the Akademi, D. K. Sreenivasarao informed that names of the jury members and the shortlisted books with regard to the annual awards for 2018 will be made available on the Akademi website shortly.

The letter followed a request from Das to disclose the names of the jury members and the shortlisted books under rule 6 of the Akademi Awards. The rule was framed with a view to ensuring transparency and accountability in the selection process, said a statement.

For 2018, 24 writers were presented the prestigious Akademi awards.
