Intruder was hiding in Saif Ali Khan’s garden after attack
The intruder who allegedly stabbed Saif Ali Khan last Thursday at his home was hiding in the garden of the actor’s Bandra apartment for at least two hours after attack, police said, according to reports.
The accused was arrested on Sunday. Initially, the accused attempted to mislead investigators by claiming that he was a Kolkata resident, reported Hindustan Times. But, cops retrieved his school leaving certificate from his Bangladesh-based brother on his mobile phone, the HT report quoting police sources claimed.
This certificate is evidence of his Bangladeshi nationality. The accused was identified as 30-year-old Shariful Islam Shehzad Mohammad Rohilla Amin Fakir, who was living in India as Vijay Das.
“After committing the crime (On January 16), Fakir hid in the garden inside the Satguru Sharan building where Saif Ali Khan lives with his family for around two hours as he was afraid of getting caught,” an official told HT.
The accused entered Khan’s apartment as he was reportedly looking for big money. But it is still unclear whether he knew who lived in the top floor of the apartment. The actor (54) was stabbed multiple times in the attack. He underwent a five-hour surgery at nearby Lilavati Hospital. He is recovering well. The accused is in police custody.
