Saif Ali Khan Stabbing Case: Mumbai Police Arrest Woman In Bengal

Kolkata: As part of the ongoing investigation, Mumbai Police on Monday conducted a search operation in West Bengal’s Nadia district and arrested a woman in connection with the attack on Saif Ali Khan.

The probe revealed that the SIM, used by Bangladeshi national Shariful Fakir who was arrested earlier in Mumbai for the daring attack at the actor’s residence, was registered in the name of the woman, PTI reported citing a source.

A two-member team of Mumbai Police arrived in West Bengal on Sunday and got down to business.

“A woman was arrested by Mumbai Police from Chapra in Nadia district in the Saif Ali attack case. They may apply for transit remand to take her to Mumbai,” a source in West Bengal Police told PTI.

The woman, identified as Khukhumoni Jahangir Sheikh, was known to Shariful.

“Fakir had entered India illegally through the India-Bangladesh border near Siliguri in north Bengal and got in touch with this woman. She is actually a resident of Andulia in Murshidabad district of West Bengal,” the source claimed.

Saif was stabbed multiple times by the intruder in the early hours of January 16 after managing to enter the actor’s 12th-floor Bandra apartment for apparently a robbery attempt.

Saif was rushed to Lilavati Hospital where he underwent emergency surgeries that day itself. He was discharged from the hospital on January 21.

Mumbai Police have so recorded statements of 18 persons, including those of Saif, his wife Kareena Kapoor Khan and their staff.
