Rourkela: SAIL’s Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP) set a national record by clocking 48 blows in a single day in a single converter of Steel Melting Shop-2 (SMS-2) on July 2.
Coordination and contribution by different departments enabled the feat. Hot metal of requisite quality and quantity was supplied by the blast furnaces, while departments worked in tandem and provided timely inputs in a seamless manner.
On the same day, the steel plant set another benchmark. Its Hot Metal Torpedo Ladle Number-5 surpassed its previous record of 2331 lining life. Notably, the Torpedo Ladle is still in service and ready to scale new peaks of excellence.
Applauding the efforts of the collective, the CEO Dipak Chattaraj, emphasised upon the thrust of the company on cost efficiency and expressed hope that achievements like these will help the company achieve the improved cost parameters.
