New Delhi/Rourkela: The Steel Authority of India Limited’s Super Specialty Hospital at Rourkela will be used as a COVID Care Hospital.
Oil Minister Dharmendra Pradhan had instructed for use of this hospital for the treatment of COVID-19 patients in wake of rising cases in the region.
Sundargarh district has been reporting the highest number of new cases in Odisha for the past few weeks. With 631 more people testing positive for the virus in the last 24 hours, the active tally in the district now stands at 2936.
The local district authority had also sent a request for utilising the ICU facilities of the hospital for treating critical patients. The 60-bed ICU facility of SAIL-RSP will now be used for COVID-19 care. This hospital will further augment the treatment facilities for COVID patients in the state, an official release said.
A COVID-19 testing facility was also set up at the SAIL-Rourkela Steel Plant’s Ispat General Hospital and it has been functioning since then.
