Salman Khan’s Brothers Booked For Breach Of COVID Norms, Quarantined

Mumbai: After lodging an FIR for breach of COVID-19 guidelines, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has sent Salman Khan’s brothers Arbaaz Khan and Sohail Khan and nephew Nirvaan Khan to institutional quarantine at Taj Lands End Hotel in the city.

BMC officials on Tuesday said all three will have to complete a 7-day quarantine period and later RT PCR test will be done to ensure they are not affected by coronavirus. The officials also clarified that the trio will have to bear the costs for the stay and tests, India Today reported.

Earlier on Monday, BMC had lodged a police complaint against the trio. According to the complaint, Arbaaz, Sohail and Nirvaan had returned from Dubai on December 25, 2020, and directly went home without isolating themselves in a hotel as per the COVID-19 guidelines.

“These are huge violations. The guidelines were very clear. People travelling from the UK and the Middle East have to undergo compulsory institutional quarantine, even if they have a negative COVID-19 report,” a BMC official said.

According to the Union Health Ministry’s norms, returnees from the UK, Europe and UAE are required to undergo a seven-day institutional quarantine. The norm was imposed after a new strain of coronavirus was reported in the UK, NDTV reported.
